New update of 8:30pm PT 7/19: All systems are functioning normally and restored.

CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company based in Austin, Texas, that’s widely used by businesses and government agencies, said a defect in one of its updates for computers running the Microsoft Windows operating system had caused the issue.

The outage appeared to affect almost every major business sector in one way or another. It is important to note that this is not a cybersecurity issue.

In general, LifeWise systems appear to be minimally impacted. We are working closely with our vendors to better understand how this outage is impacting their services.

What we know currently about LifeWise services:

  • There are some impacts to medical claims processing within LifeWise.
  • Our vendor supporting our individual line of business is down. This includes:
    • Claims processing
    • Web portal accessibility
    • Eligibility transactions: member eligibility, benefits, claims status are not accessible
    • Care/Case management is impacted
  • Pharmacy claims are not impacted currently. We continue to assess this service.
  • Our Individual members can reach a Customer Service representative; however, some services are impacted.
  • Access to LifeWise.com services is intermittent.

The LifeWise team is working closely with our vendors to assess operational impacts and to resolve issues as quickly as possible. We will continue to provide updates here as well as on our Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
